Hey guys! If you do not know today November 14th is World Diabetes Day and I could not be happier to celebrate today, yes I said celebrate! I would like to say that as a diabetic we should all be proud of ourselves as fighters of this illness. Only we know what it is like to deal with this thing we call diabetes on a daily basis, I am personally proud of myself and how far I have come just even in the last 2 months.
As you know I am always honest with my health, especially to you guys so here goes nothing. I want to say way back in July I had a lot of personal stuff going on that caused me to not take care of myself mainly being my diabetes. After being hospitalized twice since July and once in October I finally realized enough is enough, this illness is not a game it’s a serious matter it’s my life! Since then I have gradually been improving my sugars have been the best they could be in so long, also a shoutout to my new doctor who helped me get on the right path!
I could go on and on about my struggles and how they all got me to where I am today, yes, but I just want today to be about happiness and love. We are all brave, strong, powerful, fearless and together we WILL get through this we just have to keep on fighting! Today more importantly also makes me think about my fallen family members who can’t be here today to celebrate. It is because of them that I want to keep on fighting I know they wouldn’t want me to give up.
I also think about my grandmother who recently passed in June due to Cancer, she was my biggest supporter in any and everything I did. She always wanted me to take care of me and was always so concerned and I hated seeing her so sad and scared when she almost lost me because I slipped into DKA. I promise her I will continue to do better, I feel like we all as diabetics or people have a reason to keep pushing through and for me, she is that reason.
So, my fellow T1D people, today let’s continue to kick ass at what we do best! You are all in my thoughts today and every day, spreading love to each and every one of you, best of luck always! As always my dolls, please feel free to comment below or message me your own personal stories whether it’s Diabetes related or something similar. I hope you have the best day, xoxo Roo!
